Speaking of the battle for the mind

The only recognizable feature of hope is action.

Grace Paley

Heaven will not be filled with innocent people running around saying,
“Oh was there another way? I guess I never noticed.”
Rather they will say, “You bet there were other options that begged to control me.
By God’s grace and my struggle Jesus is my Lord.”

Rebecca Manly Pippert

The world is unprincipled. It’s dog-eat-dog out there!
The world doesn’t fight fair.
But we don’t live or fight our battles that way—never have and never will.
The tools of our trade aren’t for marketing or manipulation,
but they are for demolishing that entire massively corrupt culture.
We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies,
tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God,
fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse
into the structure of life shaped by Christ.
Our tools are ready at hand for clearing the ground of every obstruction
and building lives of obedience into maturity.

II Corinthians 10:3-6 The Message

Ideas and images determine how we “take” the things and events of ordinary life.
They control the meanings we assign to what we deal with,
and they can even blind us to what lies plainly before us.

Ideas and images are the primary focus of Satan’s efforts to defeat God’s purposes with and for humankind.
When we are subject to his chosen ideas and images, he can take a nap or a holiday.

Thus when he undertook to draw Eve away from God,
he did not hit her with a stick, but with an idea.
It was with the idea that God could not be trusted
and that she must act on her own to secure her own well-being.

This is the basic idea back of all temptation:
God is presented as depriving us by his commands of what is good,
so we think we must take matters into our own hands and act contrary to what he has said.

The single most important thing in our mind is our idea of God and the associated images.

Was really struck by the quote from Dallas Willard. Satan hit Eve with an idea not a stick. May our minds be protected by His amazing truths and His love when we’re too weary to remember the truths

Thank you for this encouragement today. This is a challenging thought: The single most important thing in our mind is our idea of God and the associated images. I want to start “battling” for right thoughts of God, to see Him in His glory and goodness, not the way I’ve created Him “in my own way.” Thanks! Alicia H

I so very much needed this today. Thank you!

I'd love to hear what you are thinking...
