Speaking of which signal to pay attention to

July 2, 2012 — 2 Comments

This morning as I face

  • a new day
  • a new week
  • a new month
  • a new season

I have so many possibilities to choose from. I need to listen to God and learn which signals are from Him.

In quietness and trust is your strength…
How gracious He will be when you cry for help.
As soon as He hears, He will answer you…
…your ears will hear a voice behind you,
 saying, “this is the way, walk in it.”  Isaiah 30:15,21

“Your to-do list for me has only two things on it :

“Love God with all that you are;

love your neighbor as yourself.”

As Augustine put it, ‘Love, and do what you will.'”

[HT Justin Taylor]

Trust God from the bottom of your heart;
don’t try to figure out everything on your own.

Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;
He’s the one who will keep you on track.

Don’t assume that you know it all.
Run to God! Run from evil!
Your body will glow with health,
your very bones will vibrate with life!
Proverbs 3:5-7 [The Message]

 I normally only give three echoes on a post’s theme, but this week there’s one more to add:

“The Bible tells us that we are God’s masterpieces [poiema],
not only creatures but His creations, His poems [Ephesians 2:10].

We are living epistles [II Corinthians 3:3]
and so our lives are meant to be listened to.

Because it is God who is speaking into and out of and through them,
through the parable of each day, the symphony of the years, and the masterpiece of a lifetime.

If He is speaking through our lives,
then nothing else matters but listening to Him.”   Michael Card
