Speaking of faith

October 29, 2010 — Leave a comment

This life’s dim windows of the soul
Distorts the heavens from pole to pole
And leads you to believe a lie
When you see with, not through, the eye.

William Blake

Without faith there is no capacity for communion with God.
Faith is the eye that sees, and without that eye we are blind.
Faith is the hand of the soul and without it we cannot grasp eternal things.

Charles Spurgeon

If you say, “I have no faith,” that is no excuse either. You need only doubt your doubts. No one can doubt everything at once—
you must believe in something to doubt something else. For example, do you believe you are competent to run your own life? Where is the evidence of that? Why doubt everything but your doubts about God and your faith in yourself? Is that fair?

Tim Keller

“Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. “I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.”

Mark 11:22-23
